It was indeed a triple treat as three internationally renowned singers came to serenade more than 500 people from the major advertising companies at the “TV5 on Overdrive” trade show launch on Wednesday evening, February 15, at the NBC Tent.
Fresh from her successful “Once In A Lifetime” Valentine’s Day concert with Martin Nievera in Cebu, the Megastar Sharon Cuneta flew back to Manila to perform at the Happy Network’s major event of the year. Tony award winner Lea Salonga showed up to sing Kanta Pilipinas’ upbeat theme song to the delight of the audience, and American pop music idol and Nandito Ako actor David Archuleta extended his stay in Manila just to perform that before flying to the US.
“TV5 on Overdrive” is the network’s trade show for this year. Inspired with a car racing theme, President and CEO Ray C. Espinosa explained that the network’s aim is to overtake its rival networks in getting “more market share, more advertisers, and therefore, more revenues.” The event unveiled the newest shows of TV5 slated to air this first quarter. In full support of the network’s campaign and with Mr. Espinosa that evening were TV5 EVP and COO Roberto V. Barreiro and MVP himself: TV5 owner Manny V. Pangilinan.
Earlier, history happened when the three major Kapatid Network got the chance to talk to each other in the dressing room. TV5 VP and Creative Head Perci Intalan had introduced David to friends Sharon and Lea at the holding room area of the NBC tent. With tight security, however, only a few people were able to catch the moment with their phone cameras, including the Megastar’s manger, Sandra Chavez.
Still, guests at the event had their fill of more, more, more stars and celebrities that night. The famous Tulfo brothers—Raffy, Erwin, and Ben, were at the bar trying out the drinks. It seemed as if they wanted to mingle with the crowd and be unnoticed but a few fans couldn’t help but request the dashing guys to be photographed with them.
Backstage, there were more TV5 talents mingling and meeting each other for the first time. Valiente’s Oyo Boy Sotto and JC De Vera were hanging out with some other cast members. Felina’s Arci Munoz walked like a graceful cat backstage with her mini-dress’ train (yes, it had a train). Joey de Leon of The Biggest Game Show In the World Asian Edition waited patiently backstage while nursing his drink.
The grand party lasted past midnight, showing that when it comes to giving its valued guests and audience a good time, TV5 is truly the Happy Network.
